Profile
I am a punctual and polite person, passionate about my work, and keen to progress my knowledge of the ever changing industry I work in. I pay particular attention to detail in my work and take pride in creating the best solutions for the project I am involved in.
Education
The Dronfield School
1997 – 2002
GCSE’s; one B, eight C’s. one D.
I didn't go onto A level or any further education because I felt I'd have a much
more fulfilling education by gaining experience whilst working at a job I already
had ambitions for.
Work Experience
PlusNet PLC –
plus.net
February 2007 – October 2007
At PlusNet as was able to work on varied projects from redesigning and implementing
new web pages to building marketing emails and creating SEO strategies. I also worked
on a lot of internal interfaces, redesigning certain aspects to improve usability.
Here I learnt a lot about being in an agile development environment, where problems are
raised and fixed within hours. I also worked on multiple brands website's. I left PlusNet
due to a lack of progression within the company, and to seek new challenges.
Ebuyer UK Ltd –
ebuyer.com
June 2005 – February 2007
At PlusNet as was able to work on varied projects from redesigning and implementing
new web pages to building marketing emails and creating SEO strategies. I also worked
on a lot of internal interfaces, redesigning certain aspects to improve usability.
Here I learnt a lot about being in an agile development environment, where problems are

Rethink Creative Ltd –
rethinkcreative.com
July 2004 – June 2005
I joined Rethink as their only web designer/developer. As a small company it gave
me more freedom in the projects I worked on and helped me work much more efficiently as
I was able to control and organise everything. I designed and developed 17 websites in
5 months, as well as four identities and 1 printed brochure. I was also able to increase
my working knowledge of Object Orientated programming and print design. I left rethink
because of their relocation to Spain.
Virgin Cars Ltd –
virgincars.com (no longer live)
January 2004 – July 2004
I was contacted by a recruiter to join Virgin Cars, as their sole web designer.
I maintained their own site as well as DC Cook Direct and developed identities and sites
for other Motoring solutions they offered such as Northern Vehicle Rental. This was also
my first major experience with on-line marketing, which I started my own project on and
increased traffic through to virgincars.com by 125%. I left virgin cars for a better
opportunity at a smaller company.
Freelance –
mitchbryson.com
September 2003 – December 2003
I left Technophobia with a strong portfolio and some knowledge of basic PHP and MySQL
development. I went on to design, develop and project manage 6 websites for 4 local and
International clients. This time gave me a huge amount of experience with working with
clients face to face, and developing entire projects on my own - from design to production,
to marketing and maintenance.
Technophobia Ltd –
technophobia.com
September 2002 – September 2003
I started with Technophobia 3 months after finishing school. The 3 months prior to
this gave me a chance to build up a small portfolio of client work, freelancing. The
entire design department at the time were Fine Arts graduates, therefore I was only
offered a junior placement. At Technophobia I was able to develop my technical HTML and
CSS skills, focusing on browser compatibility and accessibility. As well as working on
time sensitive projects and becoming familiar with browser and platform compatibility.
I helped with sites such as The Co-Operative Bank, Greenflag and designed two templates
for their e-commerce system which are still being used today.
Objective
My objective is to continue a career in new media, becoming a Senior Designer, responsible for projects being finished on time and in budget, as well as managing people to get the work done. I would also like to be involved with on-line marketing of the websites I make, as I enjoy seeing the results after a project is completed.
Skillset
I do most things relating to on-line design, development and marketing. I've branded
websites and companies, designed sites from brochure size to massive e-commerce stores.
I've managed clients on a freelance level, including projects and meeting deadlines.
I've worked in design teams of one to eight, as well as working with numerous marketing
and development departments. And despite my age (21 if you didn't know), I have 6 years
of solid web design experience.
More specifically, I hand code X/HTML and CSS daily, I'm an intermediate with Javascript
and I use jQuery occasionally because I find it's the most documented and easiest to use
of the Javascript libraries. I've developed PHP applications such as property management
and CMS. I've used flash, but dislike it - probably because I'm not good enough to do
things like games in it. I'm very proficient with Photoshop and Illustrator and I've got a
couple of years of SEO, such as, whilst working for virgin I solely increased traffic by
125% using organic white hat SEO. I like to be as creative with SEO as I am with my design,
and it usually gets results. My main passion is website design and front-end development.
